| Payap University hosted its first-ever international film festival from 3-6 February, 2011. This festival, aptly named "Lifescapes" and with a decidedly Southeast Asian theme, showcased films that explore regional issues and human rights struggles within mainland Southeast Asia. The festival was a resounding success. Over 1,000 moviegoers visited the four-day event, with the first three and a half days held on the campus of Payap University. The festival culminated in the exclusive showing of the Palme D'Or award winner (Cannes Film Festival 2010), "Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives," to a sell-out crowd at Theater 7 of the Major Cineplex at Airport Central mall. Many thanks to all who contributed to the enormous success of this festival. Special thanks goes to the event organizers, Ms. Jessica Loh and Ms. Sutthirat "Som" Supaparinya. | |
